Too hard a pulse contest

It was the day of the competition. they had been preparing for the state pulse contest for several months and had arranged to have breakfast together before going there. the tension accumulated in the previous days had been capital and their muscular bodies said "enough". they had to release all that tension before the competition if they did not want to be eliminated at the first change. before heading to the contest they had to warm up with a brutal saber pulse.
